Testing Ruffcode’s Widget
19 July 2006
After many Mac-using WordPress fanatics read the news about a “Mini WordPress Gadget,” they wanted a widget to use on OSX. Ruff Ruffman, or so he calls himself, decided that he’d start work making one. His beta for an aptly named “wordpress” widget works just as it should:
1) You log in to WordPress.com
2) You can check Stats of your blogs
3) You can Post new blog entries
4) You can add Bookmarks
5) You log out of WordPress.com*
Mac users should check it out, search for bugs, offer him suggestions, and whatnot. I’ll be using it.
*The “Log Out” button currently does not work. For my own list of bugs/things that need to be fixed, read the comments of Ruff’s post.

What’s wrong with the Logout button?

It didn’t logout for me. I was still able to click “Post” and go make another post.

Huh… did you have to log in first or were you already logged in when you added the gadget?

I had to log in to use the widget (which, subsequently, logged me out of WordPress.com on Safari).

How strange. Someday somebody with a Mac will debug that…

Yeah, not me–I can barely do Javascript and HTML.

oh I figured out why!
Because the widget and safari both share cookies. So maybe in some diabolical sceme by apple they made it so you get logged out in one window!
That’s probably why!
